LOCAL pride was upheld as Penang-based eSports team Solo A was crowned champions of the Blackbox Dojo Masters League.

They climbed their way up the lower bracket, to fight and triumph over Kuala Lumpur’s 5 Red Army despite a handicap, in a thrilling finale.

It capped off a five-month tournament series that attracted the best Mobile Legends players from Penang, Kuala Lumpur and Kelantan.

The first four months featured one qualifier tournament each, with the winners and runners-up winning cash prizes and moving on to compete in the Dojo Masters League.

Games were played at and broadcasted live from the service centre of Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim, who is also Deputy Youth and Sports Minister.

Sim, who sponsored the event’s running costs and some of the cash prizes, said it was a good example of how eSports can bring communities together.
