Alan Pardew claims he was speaking to the Scot about Wilfried Zaha’s failed time at Old Trafford before Crystal Palace’s FA Cup semi-final victory.
Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew claims Sir Alex Ferguson is “disappointed” that Wilfried Zaha was not a success at Manchester United.
Zaha was Ferguson’s final signing at United but made only four first-team appearances under David Moyes before eventually returning to Palace, initially on loan before making the move permanent in February 2015.
The 23-year-old is set to face United in the FA Cup final next month and Pardew has revealed that Sir Alex Ferguson is still keen to track the winger’s progress.
“Zaha had a slight injury before [the semi-final], which we were worried about, then he went and nearly scored one of the great semi-final goals,” said Pardew.
“The final is going to be a big day for Wilf. This guy has got unbelievable potential. I spoke to Sir Alex in the week. He was asking about him because I think he’s genuinely disappointed it didn’t work out for Wilf.”
