How to Play Seven-card Stud Poker

Seven-card Stud Poker is a variant of Stud Poker that was the most popular form of poker

Before Texas Hold’em Poker, there was Seven-card Stud Poker. These days, in all online casino or physical casino everyone playws Texas Hold’em Poker, largely because of how well designed it is. Texas Hold’Em is easy to understand and the format makes for excellent entertainment, but that does not mean other variation of pokers are not as well made.

Today, we introduce the classic Seven-card Stud Poker.

No community card

In Texas Hold’em, there are five community cards (Also known as the ‘river’) however, there are no community cards in Seven-card Stud Poker. Players are individually dealt with seven cards across the course of the hand, but only five cards will be selected by the player during the showdown. The hand rankings are the same as in hold’em

How does it work?

Third Street – At the start of the round, players are dealt three cards individually. Two of these cards will be faced down and one will be revealed. The player with the exposed poker card of the lowest value begins the action and commences the betting round. The player may bet/raise in the smaller increment or check.

Fourth Street – A second exposed card is dealt to all players in seating. The player with the new exposed poker card of the highest value starts the betting round this time. The player may bet/raise in the smaller increment or check.

Fifth Street – A third exposed card is dealt to all players in seating. The player with the new exposed poker card of the highest value as well starts the betting round this time. Player may bet/raise, from this round onward all raises are in big increment.

Sixth Street – A forth exposed card is dealt to all players in seating. The player with the new exposed poker card of the highest value also starts the betting round this time. The bet structure is the same as the previous round

River – A term many players might be familiar with. The final card is dealt faced down for each player. After the final round of betting commences, all players will reveal their hand for the showdown. The player with the highest-ranking combination of five cards wins the pot. Furthermore, in the event where two players have the same ranking the pot will be evenly shared between the two of them.

A more unique poker game

Seven-card Stud Poker is in many ways more nuanced than average hold’em poker, but having more rounds may prove to be more complex and not preferred. However, the increased dynamic makes other tactic more viable, hopefully more casinos begin adapting different forms of poker.
