It is not uncommon for announcements of this nature from China, your guess is as good as mine.
Chinese smartphone giant Huawei achieved over RMB 500 mln (USD 70 mln) of sales for its Mate 30 smartphones on its e-commerce platform Huawei Mall in just one minute. These sales were all from within the Chinese domestic market.
Huawei began selling the Mate 30 at 18:08 (BJT) yesterday on Huawei Mall, as well as at both authorized online and offline stores. The phone model was unveiled last week in Germany, in which the company revealed the price tags of the phone. The Chinese price tag ranges between RMB 3,999 (USD 560) to RMB 6,299 (USD 885), which is cheaper than the international price tag of between EUR 799 (USD 872) to EUR 1,099 (USD 1,199).
The release of the Mate 30 in Europe has been delayed due to the recent US ban of Huawei’s products, which has prevented the company from running the Android operating system, as well as Google applications and services, such as the Play Store and Google Maps. In response, Huawei has begun developing its own proprietary operating systems.
A 5G version of Mate 30 is set to be launched soon on 01 Nov. It will be priced from RMB 4,999 (USD 701).
