Azman Ibrahim believes Kelantan can make up their poor run in the early season by winning the FA Cup, but wary of the threat from Lions’ young players.
Kelantan is set to face Singapore’s Lions XII this Saturday at the National Stadium Bukit Jalil and team manager, Azman Ibrahim is wary of the threat from the opponent’s young players.
Kelantan, no stranger to the FA Cup final competition will face Lions XII, who has never tasted FA Cup glory before and Azman believed the prowess and ability of Lions XII young players can surprise The Red Warriors.
According to Bernama, Azman said “They have proven to be a formidable team and they don’t have any import players in the team. They proved their strength when they beat Terengganu and with their former international as their coach, they will be very dangerous.”
However, Azman believes the Red Warriors’ success of advancing to the final, after a slow start in the season, can uplift them to beat Fandi Ahmad’s boys.
“We’re in the final after a poor start. The final will be the best platform for us to make up for the poor run in the league early in the season,” added Azman.
Azman is also hoping that all Kelantan import players will be fit for the final this Saturday, especially in-form Austin Amutu.
Kelantan overturned their first leg defeat to Pahang in front of their home fans, winning the second leg 3-1 in a dramatic way. LionsXII made it into the final after beating Terengganu on away goals rule.
