Online Gambling Syndicate arrested in Malaysia

Police in Malaysia caught an online gambling syndicate run by foreigners about two months after it started luring in gamblers.

There are 12 Chinese citizens that running the operation from a condominium in Section 17 in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia and they have been arrested.

The 10 men and two women are between 23 and 33 years old and are believed to have been paid between RM10,000 and RM13,000 a month to run the operation in Malaysia.

The 12 people were found in two different units of the same condominium, which are believed to have been used as the gambling syndicate’s call centre where they would attend to punters’ requests to top-up their credits before a game.

Police raided the unit around 5.30pm on Sunday (April 26) and also seized 56 mobile phones, six laptops, four modems, 10 SIM cards and cash worth RM38,620 in various denominations.

The operation is believed to turn profits of up to RM50,000 a day and would target punters from China.

Police still doing the investigation whether they had any local connections and any plans to target local punters.

The 12 have been remanded for four days until April 30 to help with investigations.
