Resort World Genting Malaysia says it will not be shortening its previously planned closure period, currently scheduled until 12 May, despite the Malaysian government this week easing its Movement Control Order.
Malaysia Prime Minister – Muhyiddin Yassin announced last week that he was lifting “almost all economic sectors and business activities” as of Monday 4 May, provided businesses were able to implement social distancing measures while operational.
While many have done just that, Genting Malaysia confirmed on Wednesday that Resorts World Genting, as well as hotels and facilities at Resorts World Awana, Resorts World Kijal and Resorts World Langkawi, would remain closed until at least 12 May – the date it announced in late April.
“Despite the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), [the properties] will remain closed until further notice,” Genting Malaysia said. “We will continue to monitor the situation and make the necessary announcements as more information becomes available.
