Zamalek racist reaction to losing CAF Champions League

Zamalek, The Egyptian outfit are refusing to accept that they were beaten fairly by Mamelodi Sundowns in Africa’s premier club competition

Mamelodi Sundowns’ CAF Champions League final victory was marred by racially charged accusations of “black magic” from the Egyptian club’s board members.

Chairman Mortada Mansour cut a frustrated figure after the 3-1 defeat and was quick to offer obscure excuses as to why his side had come unstuck.

Rather than congratulate the victors and open a constructive review of what went wrong for Zamalek on the day, questions were instead asked of how the triumphant South Africans had come out on top – with ‘sorcery’ claimed to have played its part.

“Is it natural to waste 18 chances in front of goal? Things were obviously not normal and there was magic and sorcery involved,” Mansour told journalists after the match.
“All of the players and their coach were men today and we missed God’s reconcile.

“I thanked them after the game for their manly performance.”
Mansour was not the only one to play the ‘black magic’ card, with fellow board member Hany Zada taking things one step further.

He said: “I saw with my eyes in Africa those who use black magic, I’m not talking about how feasible it is or not, but after all these advancements black magic is still used in Africa.

“There is a tribe 80 km from the capital of South Africa that use black magic and also in some places in Northern Africa.”
